Wake Up Call: Why Your Adrenals Are Burnt Out (and Begging for Help)
February 19, 2026
This episode is about:
- Why “adrenal insufficiency” is a mechanistic framing (and why that doesn't help you)
- The key difference between adrenal medulla vs adrenal cortex
- Why the standard GNM “find the DHS” approach backfires
- A simple leverage point that exposes the real pattern in real time: getting adequate sleep

In conventional medicine, the adrenals are treated like one unit that either works or doesn’t.
In Germanische Heilkunde, we know that the adrenals include two distinct tissue types, each with its own distinct special biological program.
These two special biological programs - related, but relaying through completely different areas of the brain and therefore producing completely different symptoms and feelings - are why “burnout” can get so confusing (and so chronic)
In this episode, originally recorded with the Quintessence Tribe, I unpack the adrenal medulla “unbearable stress” program and the adrenal cortex “self-devaluation of being off my path" program.
Then I share the practical one-level-up move that untangles the whole mess.

I really enjoyed this episode. However, what if getting 9 hours of sleep is the problem! i.e. what if one goes to bed early and keeps waking up in the wee small hours with stress hormones coursing through us and after that sleep is intermittent at best? I know I have plenty of conflicts to work through and I feel like I have been working on them for most of my life but my stress has ramped up so much in the last few years I feel like I am going backwards! I'll keep looking for the gold... Thanks so much.
Hi Wendy! Waking up in the wee hours with stress hormones coursing through you is often an epi-crisis. If possible, as soon as you wake up in the wee hours, try to remember what you were dreaming about.
