The psyche is one aspect of your physical organism. Together, your psyche, brain, and body are one integrated information-processing system (a very sophisticated “biocomputer”).
Your psyche is the software and operating system of your nervous system. It is made of thoughts, each of which is an as-yet unfulfilled intention to relate. In this sense, thoughts are if-then-goto processes of the biocomputer.
Just as a computer “psyche” runs on machine language – a combination of zeros and ones or off/on switches – your psyche runs on the binary combination of “yeses” and “nos.” It is essentially an extremely sophisticated evolution of basic organic action-reaction and “stimulus response.”
Through this mechanism, an organism’s psyche translates its consciousness, desires, and aversions into conflict logic, priorities, and survival-oriented logic operations, all outside of conscious awareness.
The psyche is the origin point of a DHS (Dirk Hamer Syndrome). A DHS is not a physical event or circumstance; it is the psyche’s sudden internal realization that a desired condition does not exist (or that an unwanted condition does exist), experienced as unexpected, serious, and isolating from security or life source. That internal “shock” is the moment a biological conflict forms in the psyche and a Special Biological Program initiates in psyche, brain, and body.
Because the psyche is unconscious operation, people often confuse it with conscious emotions, beliefs, or identities. Those will all arise from the psyche (compulsively so in relation to the content of a biological conflict), but the psyche itself is the underlying automatic process of the nervous system that
- fixates attention on conflict content,
- drives the organism into the fixed or stuck identity of the conflict-active state, and
- releases that state at the moment of conflict resolution, which is when the unconscious biological conflict becomes conscious (“conflictolysis”).
- (the psyche will temporarily re-create the fixed or stuck identity during the epi-crisis in the healing phase of the special biological program)
Contrary to both popular psychology and New Age thinking the psyche is not “positive thinking,” and it’s not a mystical force.
It is the organism’s unconscious, where conflicts, tracks, and resolutions originate, recur, and resolve, while the brain and nervous system translate those unconscious priorities into coordinated changes across the entire organism.
