The Law of Two Phases (Second Biological Law)

Short Definition:

Every Special Biological Program (SBS) unfolds in two phases—a conflict-active phase and a healing phase—provided the biological conflict in the psyche is resolved. Each "disease" symptom is either an active-phase symptom or a healing phase symptom.

Explanation:

The second biological law of the Germanische Heilkunde is that every special biological program follows a predictable course, beginning at the moment of the DHS and, if the biological conflict is resolved, progressing through a two-part healing phase at the end of which there has been a biological evolution of the organism.

The first phase of every special biological program is a cold, active phase in sympathecotonia. The second phase, if there is resolution of the biological conflict, is a warm, healing phase in vagotonia.

Beginning with the DHS in the psyche, the full course of a special biological program is as follows:

1) Normotonia (baseline rhythm)
Normotonia is the normal day-night oscillation without active conflict. In this rhythm, the organism naturally alternates between stimulation and relaxation. Biological “day” begins at 4:00am and biological “night” begins at 4:00pm.

2) Conflict-active phase (sympathecotonia / “cold phase”)
The conflict-active phase begins immediately at the DHS, when the psyche locks onto the conflict content and enters a “lasting day” state, with fixation, heightened alertness, and the sense of urgency around the conflict content. This phase is characterized by sympathetic dominance (“cold” qualities like cold hands/feet and morning insomnia – waking at around 3:30am and having difficulty getting back to sleep). The entire organism runs the special biological program:  depending on the conflict content and the germ layer that is involved, there may be tissue gain, tissue loss, or functional change in the body as the brain and nervous system execute the special biological program.

3) Conflict resolution (conflictolysis)
Conflictolysis is the moment the biological conflict in the psyche is received into consciousness—when one becomes consciously aware of the components of the biological conflict: the desired experience, the experience one wishes to avoid, or both—so that the psyche has no further need for the emergency response.

4) Healing phase (post-conflictolysis / vagotonia / “warm phase”)
Immediately upon resolution of the biological conflict in the psyche, the organism shifts into “lasting night” —deep vagotonia — and the special biological program moves into a restoration and completion process. This healing or resolution phase has three parts:

  • PCL-A (edema phase): swelling and protective fluid retention in the relevant brain relay and corresponding body tissue as restoration begins.

  • Epi-crisis (healing crisis): a short, intense replay/flashback of the conflict in the psyche, experienced across psyche, brain, and organ. The purpose of the epi-crisis is to shock or squeeze the brain in order to shake out edema in the brain relay and pivot the organism back toward balance. The epi-crisis is experienced at all three levels: psyche, brain, and organ.

  • PCL-B (scarring phase): release of excess fluids, consolidation, and permanent structural or functional adaptation — what becomes the organism’s new normotonia. Completion of PCL-B is the mechanism of biological evolution. The organism does not return to its pre-DHS state; it is now a new organism.

Each phase of the special biological program depends on conditions in the psyche to proceed. If the biological conflict is not resolved, the special biological program does not enter the healing phase. Once we are in healing phase, if we re-activate the conflict (via tracks), we cannot proceed to the end of PCL B (called “hanging healing”). And if we have a new DHS at the epi-crisis, we can effectively remain in “hanging active conflict.”
